And the 2018 Tom Hillier Award Winner IS…1
We were pleased to have last year’s Tom Hillier Award Winners Glasgow Braehead with us last night at the British Healthcare Trade Awards Dinner to celebrate 2018 and all that was achieved. We were treated to a festive spread that included Christmas dinner and mince pies. The Alton Towers Hotel served as a backdrop to the event where a string quartet played the drinks reception and a band got everyone up and moving to work off their first Christmas Dinner of the year.
So without further ado this year’s winner is…
HIGH WYCOMBE SHOPMOBILITY
Congratulations to Claire and her team at High Wycombe Shopmobility. The team based at the Eden Centre work hard to provide the best service possible to their clients. As well as that, they are heavily involved with projects in and around the Eden centre.
They do a lot within the community to raise awareness of the shopmobility scheme and the work they do. They can often be found on fundraising stalls and they host regular quiz nights. In fact, their fundraising calendar is what prevented them from attending this year’s British Healthcare Awards Dinner and therefore they were unable to collect their trophy in person. However, we will be delivering the trophy to the scheme soon and will share pictures when we have them.
The Awards Dinner also saw Concern Wadebridge receive a Highly Commended Certificate for their efforts this year. Concern Wadebridge not only provides the regular shopmobility services but also gives the mobility-impaired access to scooters that are able to take on the rough terrain of the Camel Trail. This allows holiday-makers to fully enjoy their Cornish experience with their families. Congratulations to Andy and his team.
We are very much looking forward to 2019 which will celebrate the 40th year of shopmobility.
