One year on and East Kilbride Shopmobility is celebrating the success of its name change. Back in October 2017, the scheme changed its name to Older & Active and over the last 12 months, they have grown their services way beyond that of a shopmobility.
We would like to highlight and welcome our recent additions to membership.
Firstly, we would like to welcome and say congratulations to a brand new scheme that recently opened, Community House Shopmobility. This scheme came into membership at the beginning of September and they are based in Great Yarmouth. It is fantastic to see another seaside resort become accessible to those with limited mobility. Peter Angus a volunteer with Shopmobility Highland has been recognised for his many years of Community Service by the Lord Lieutenant Janet Bowen, who presented him with the British Empire Medal.
Peter has been a Shopmobility Highland volunteer driver for the past 16 years based at Dingwall. Every Wednesday he drives one of the Shopmobility Highland minibuses collecting scheme members from their respective homes and brings them into the city centre. On arrival, the other volunteers have mobility products waiting for those who need them, enabling members to access the city and do shopping or just enjoy a day out. (more…)
The Tom Hillier Award is presented annually to a National Federation of Shopmobility UK (NFSUK) member scheme. The Scheme must show, through their nominations that they have provided exceptional service levels to their clients that goes over and above what would normally be expected of their scheme.

On Friday 10 August 2018, Littlehampton Shopmobility set up a stall outsides Sainsbury’s to fundraise for the charity. The free stall was arranged via Littlehampton Town Council and was in a good location but sadly the weather was terrible. The team fought the good fight for as long as possible and were grateful for the support of local business owners. (more…)
