Shopmobility helping to create memories0
More than just shopping, Shopmobility is helping to create memories. A lot of the time you don’t know the affect you have on people. Most of the time people use a service leave and that’s the end of the story. However, sometimes they take the time to let you know you’re doing a great thing. These stories are the reason so many shopmobility volunteers do what they do. Helping people stay independent, allowing them to shop, visit and travel to places that would otherwise be difficult.
This week we share one such story from Wadebridge Shopmobility who have a holiday mobility arm to their service allowing people to travel in Cornwall even on rough terrain.
We would like to thank you for your wonderful help and support on visiting the centre. Last year we revisited Wadebridge with our husbands, who wanted to relive the Camel Trail which we did the last time on bikes!
This time we booked 4 mobility scooters. Unfortunately David one of our husbands was suffering from early stage Dementia and decided he could not do the trip. He stayed behind at the centre and joined in ‘Chatter that Matters’, reliving his memories of serving on Christmas Island and elsewhere.
This left the three of use exploring and enjoying the Camel Trail and Fish and Chips in Padstow. We had a marvelous day, using the 3 Mobility Scooters.
This year we decided to come and do the same again. Unfortunately David is now being cared for in a home and Nigel, who organised it all last year, lost his fight with cancer. BUT us ladies enjoyed another day remembering our love ones and the pleasure Nigel had from it last year. We decided to do the Camel Trail and Fish and Chips again this year!
Thank You so much for a memorable day out and hope to return in the near future.
We wish you well in the future and the work you do in supporting your local community.
